Everyone should exfoliate their skin, however the type of exfoliant you require depends on your skin type.

Those with sensitive skin will need something very gentle like an organic apricot scrub. Aging skin does well with microdermabrasion, which uses microfine particles to buff away the old skin. This can sometimes be harsh on the skin so it shouldn't be used too frequently. Sugar and salt scrubs mixed with essential oils are great for smoothing the entire body but may be too heavy for the face. Body wash is another spa product that is considered an essential. These washes are applied to the body with a mesh puff and come in varieties for every skin type. Clay, charcoal and mineral washes are great for detoxifying the skin while shea butter is an optimum moisturizer.

You may also want a bath additive such as foam or oil in which to soak. Look for something that is moisturizing and fragranced with natural essential oils. You can incorporate aromatherapy into your bath for a true spa experience. Add a few drops of aromatherapy bath oil to a tub full of warm water, light some candles and get ready to soak. Lavender and vanilla are calming scents, while citrus and mint are invigorating scents. Experiment with different blends to see what you prefer. You can actually buy essential oils and create your own custom bath blend by combining a few drops of each in a carrier oil like jojoba or apricot oil. This works great as a massage oil as well.

Shopping for bath, body and spa products is a lot of fun because there are so many different choices. There are many different companies that sell these types of products. Bath and Body Works is one of the most popular and accessible places to buy your home spa products. Of course you could also buy your products directly from a day spa, but beware of the oversell. You may walk out with more products than you can afford. The Internet is also a great place to shop for bath and body products because it opens up a global marketplace at your fingers.
